Overseas and Australian qualifications and employment summary
- 1971 Graduated from Warsaw University, the Faculty of Early Childhood Education.
(Three years of study-full time).
- 1971-77 Primary school teaching
- 1975 Commenced study in the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw, While doing human movement study, she worked with children with first and second-degree spinal deformities and provided a corrective exercise program. Selected for further study on the basis of success with this corrective exercise program.
- 1977 Commenced employment in Physiology Faculty Academy of Medicine Bialystok, Poland. She was involved in a research project that was supported by a grant from the Polish Academy of Science. Part of that project was her thesis for the Master's Degree entitled ‘Influence of tenotomy and nerve removal on the early post-exertion glycogen re-synthesis in the skeletal muscle of rats'.
- 1978 After four years of study she graduated with a Master's Degree in Human Movement Education concurrently working (1977-1985) in the Physiology Faculty, Academy of Medicine in Bialystok .
Duties of her position included:
Participation in research and provision of assistance in scientific work.
Provision of assistance in the development and facilitation of training programs.
Conducting research and provision of services (experimental, engineering, medical and others).
- 1981 Master's degree thesis was accepted for publication by the Editorial Committee of the medical journal “Acta Physiologica Polonica” and was published in No 4/81 issue of that journal.
- 1982 The Physiology Department Academy of Medicine supported her application to commence a bridging course designed for holders of Masters degree in Human Movement Education at the Institute of Mother and Child Training Center for Rehabilitation at the Institute of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the Academy of Medicine in Poznan.
This was very intensive training in the hospital environment that finished with theory and practical examinations and resulted in the award of the title Qualified Instructor in Motor Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy).
- 1983-86 Worked in the State Clinical Hospital at the Orthopedic ward as a Physiotherapist and commenced her PhD degree in pathophysiology and biomechanics of the knee joint, conducting research on people who worked in a kneeling positions (tilers, roof repairers etc), aiming to produce occupational health & safety guidelines and protective equipment.
- 1985 Joanna qualified as a Beauty Therapist and opened ‘Studio LaBelle' Day Spa, employing a staff of three.
- 1990 Immigrated to Australia and worked at Royal Brisbane Hospital at the Geriatric Assessment Unit for work experience.
- 1991 Commenced private practice in Lutwyche Brisbane where she provided a variety of body treatments such as massage and beauty treatments.
Joanna's desire for knowledge in the Health and Beauty industry inspired her to upgrade her qualifications and diversify into natural healing.
- 1997 Commenced acupuncture study at Australian Institute of Applied Sciences.
- 1999 Graduated with Advanced Diploma of Acupuncture and added acupuncture to the existing services in her clinic at 19 Swinburne St Lutwyche.
Received the award of Post Graduate Certificate having satisfactorily completed the Japanese Acupuncture and Manaka Protocols Course a nd added the Manaka Yin Yang Balancing Therapy to her existing services.
- 2000 She has completed other courses including Sports Therapy Postgraduate Clinical Practice Training, Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies- Shirodhara Training module 13, Indian Head Massage Therapy and Senior First Aid Certificate.
Obtaining this knowledge has enabled Joanna to launch her Day Spa Centre, which offers a variety of Holistic Health, Beauty and Wellness services.
- 2001 Association of Professional Aestheticians of Australia awarded Joanna with National Salon Excellence Award in category “Best Sole Practitioner Establishment”.
- 2002 Graduated with high distinction from Australian College of Natural Medicine with the degree Bachelor of Health Science [Acupuncture] and was awarded the graduate prize and Certificate of Excellence for outstanding performance in Acupuncture at the ACNM.
Joanna also completed the approved training program in the Toyohari System of Japanese Acupuncture and awarded the title of Registered Toyohari Practitioner.
She visits Japan (Tokyo) on a regular basis, joining annual workshops to learn from a world- renowned authority in Toyohari style acupuncture.

- 2003 She gained accreditation from the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association for practising Chinese Herbal Medicine.
- 2005 Received the certificate from the Morningside Neuro Acupuncture Centre (UK) for studied and applied principles in Theory and Practice of Cosmetic Acupuncture.
- 2006 Joanna is participating in the Advanced Training Program in Toyohari to be completed in October 2007.
- 2007 She was awarded the title of Registered Toyohari Academic Practitioner.
- 2008 She upgraded her qualifications in Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Renewal taught by Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, internationally recognized author and educator of facial acupuncture.
Joanna is a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (A.A.C.M.A.), She also is a member of the Australasian Branch of Toyohari Association (A.B.T.A.)
